Grout typically comprises a mixture of cement, sand, water with other materials such as fine gravel and accelerating mixtures added on occasion, and it can be a tricky substance to work with unless you have the correct grouting pump machine.

Depending on the application, there are different types of grouting. Each type has unique characteristics such as flow rate, setting time, and pump distance. Understanding these will help you choose the most suitable pump and manufacturing procedure. For example, the pump distance should always be kept to a minimum, and the hose should be as straight as possible. But this is not always feasible in some cases, so it is important to understand the material properties and choose the right grouting pump before manufacturing the product.

Different Types

Grouting pumps are available in manual, electric, hydraulic, pneumatic and pneumatic models, and some also have agitators and storage hoppers. The scale and scope of grouting work will determine which model you choose, but in most cases, a manual grouting pump may be appropriate.

Hand-held Grouting Pumps

These devices are light, compact and easy to operate, and the operator can fully control the work. This is very important in work that focuses on accuracy and detail, such as leveling concrete slabs or filling cracks. According to experience, it is easy to add more grout, but it is difficult to remove it once the grout has solidified, so operator control is essential.

A manual grout pump doesn’t require a power source and is suitable for pumping most types of grouts. It is ideal for applications which don’t require high pressure such as grouting door frames.

Heavy Duty Grouting Pumps

Large heavy duty pumps are more suitable for completing larger grouting work. They usually have air-powered spraying or pumping function. Some factors need to be considered when choosing a large grout pump, including hose size, output pressure, output capacity, mixer, hopper capacity, and vertical restrictions. For example, a cavity rotor/stator type pump is the perfect solution for pumping viscous, abrasive or solid materials, cement, lightly sanded grout mixes, plaster coats and cement/sand mortar.
